Pippa has written over 20 musicals, including three acclaimed productions in the West End, collectively earning nominations for the Olivier Awards, Whatsonstage Awards and Evening Standard Awards. Her repertoire also includes numerous childrens shows, which have been performed both across the UK and internationally, with successful runs in China, Singapore, and the US.

Musical Theatre Composer & Songwriter

Pippa Cleary is an award-winning British musical theatre composer and songwriter. She is the only female British composer to have had three musicals produced in the West End, including the acclaimed My Son’s A Queer (But What Can You Do?) which is due to open in America this year following a smash hit, UK Tour. Previous West End credits include The Great British Bake Off Musical and The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole Aged 13¾ The Musical (nominated for an Evening Standard Best New Musical Award and UK Theatre Award). For the 2023 Olivier Awards, as a songwriter, Pippa wrote the first original opening number ‘The West End Stage’ which was performed by Hannah Waddingham at the Royal Albert Hall.

Her adaptation of In The Willows which toured the UK in 2019, brings the classic tale of The Wind in the Willows to life with whimsical songs and vibrant characters. In Chicken Little (Singapore Repertory Theatre 2015),Pippa's infectious tunes and lively score add a fun, musical twist to the beloved fable. Her version of Treasure Island(Singapore Repertory Theatre 2015),is a swashbuckling adventure, filled with catchy numbers that engage young audiences, while Red Riding Hood (Singapore Repertory Theatre 2013, Pleasance Theatre, London 2015), offers a playful and musical reimagining of the classic fairy tale. As a musical theatre composer and songwriter, Pippa continues to craft imaginative, entertaining shows that capture the hearts of children and families alike.

    Pippa’s work as a musical theatre composer and songwriter has been seen in different concerts and performances. Her songs have been performed by the likes of Bradley Jaden, Kerry Ellis and John Owen Jones who are all renowned actors in the musical theatre industry. Pippa even stepped out of her capacity as songwriter when she took to the stage in Regards to Broadway 2023 to accompany and act alongside Rob Madge, a concert about the journey of their show My Son’s A Queer.
